When Trollbeads enlisted Wired Media to develop its brand new UK website we were over the moon. Trollbeads wanted a ‘bang-on-brand’ site that mirrored the beauty and elegance of their jewellery. Incorporating a theme of ‘play’, the website had to be highly interactive and utilise user generated content that could easily be shared. It also had to be user and search engine friendly.
Trollbeads has an exhaustive product range, spanning across several categories, which posed potential challenges. To cope with the complex nature of the Jewellery range, we implemented faceted search.
To integrate the idea of interaction and ‘play’ across the site we produced ‘build a bracelet’ which, through flash, enables the user to create their own bracelet, this function, like all others on the site can be shared across multiple social networking platforms. Trollbeads’ jewellery is incredibly collectable, and to reinforce this notion we included an ‘add to jewellery box’ function which followed the idea of play and nostalgia. An ‘Add to Wishlist’ option was also implemented which allows the user to save and share the pieces that they desired.
Trollbeads were overjoyed with their new bespoke WiredCMS ecommerce website that not only reflected the brand image, and quality of the jewellery but also delivered everything it needed including a heavyweight admin area.
Thanks to high Google rankings the results have been highly encouraging; the site generates vast amounts of traffic which have continued to increase month-on-month. Trollbeads could not be more delighted that their traffic is three times greater than the previous year. Since the site has been live Wired Media has increased the server resource twice and introduced caching to ensure that the website continues to perform quickly as new products are added.
