Databases

MySql, MSSQL . . .

There is so much to think about when choosing which database to use.

You've got to think about the cost of developing, maintaining and hosting and the other systems you might need to integrate.

We can help you with this - whether it's adding new features or a completely new website.

Mysql

MySQL is the worlds leading open source relational database management system (RDBMS). We use it extensively here at Wired Media to aid the development of dynamic web sites and applications. It handles the data requirements of some of the worlds leading websites such as Facebook, Flickr and Wikipedia.

MySQL first appeared as a light weight database system in 1995 and has grown with the web since then. The latest release, 5.1, is fully ACID compliant (which in layman's terms means that it meets a set of accepted criteria for ensuring that your data is stored, accessed and updated in a reliable and safe way), and version 6 is due to be released soon, including improved unicode support and new features (including the new Falcon storage engine) to help it cope with high load scenarios.

We are experts in the installation, configuration, use and management of mysql installations and databases.

We also have experience in offering high availability (HA) MySQL solutions for demanding applications using clustering and or one of the several available replication strategies to achieve this

Wired | Document Databases

Document databases are an alternative way of storing your websites to the traditional relational or SQL related databases - they are often termed nosql databases.

They are seeing increasing use on the web as both an alternative and complementary technology to traditional relational databases such as MySQL - the main use case being very busy sites with a lot of complex data where a relational database is simply too slow to keep up.

At Wired Media, we have experience using MongoDB, CouchDB and Cassandra alongside relational databases in order to provide the best and most cost effective solutions to our clients.

Mssql

Microsoft SQL Server was launched by Microsoft in the late 1980s to compete with Oracle and other enterprise level databases. It has drastically evolved with its client IDE tools, complementary systems (reporting, analysis etc) and database performance since its first launch. the latest version is SQL Server 2008.

It is famous for its Full Text Based Search which is a string matching technology by Microsoft. It allows to index almost any text based database columns. This speeds up searches on a large block of text.

We at Wired Media like SQL Server because of its seamless connectivity with ASP and ASP.NET

Postgresql

PostgreSQL is an object-relational database management system.

Whether you want an existing PostgreSQL system maintained or a new one developed we can help.
